Installing Your Mod File with Mod Organizer 2

How to install a downloaded Facemod character mod using Mod Organizer 2 (MO2), the virtual-filesystem mod manager.

By Facemod TeamUpdated

Requirements

  • Mod Organizer 2 (free, github.com/ModOrganizer2/modorganizer)
  • The supported game already installed
  • A mod file downloaded from Facemod

Steps

1

Install MO2 and set up your instance

Download MO2, run the installer, and point it at your game when prompted to create a new instance.

2

Install your Facemod mod file

In MO2, click the "Install a new mod" icon (or drag-and-drop the file onto the mod list) and select the downloaded mod file. MO2 unpacks it into its own virtual mod folder without touching your game's real Data folder.

3

Enable it in the mod list

Check the box next to the new mod entry in MO2's left-hand mod list to activate it.

4

Check load order

If another appearance or texture mod affects the same character, drag your new mod lower in the list so it loads after (and overrides) the earlier one.

5

Run the game through MO2

Always launch the game using MO2's built-in launcher (not the game's own shortcut or Steam directly) — that's what applies MO2's virtual file overrides.

Tip: MO2's virtual filesystem means uninstalling is as simple as unchecking the mod — your original game files are never modified.
